About Us
Originally, we were performers for the half-time show of a local basketball team. When their team folded, we incorporated, as a not for profit LLC. Voila, the Calendar Girls were born! Our four charter members: Katherine, Linda, Marianne & Tina have been instrumental in our strength & growth. Today, this Lee County song & dance team is made up of 30 delightfully dangerous, doggie-lovin’ divas, all over age 50. Together we represent well over 1000 years of dancing! Our motto is “Maturity In Motion” and we’ve been serving our community, through dance, since 2006.
At every performance we take a moment to recognize our veterans and have been helping raise awareness, as well as cash, to help provide a “miracle with a tail” to an American veteran. Our primary charity is ‘Paws for PatriotsTM‘ – a part of the Southeastern Guide Dog School of Palmetto, FL. This organization trains guide dogs for our blinded veterans. The average cost of training one dog is $60,000 and the school relies solely on donations from the community, never receiving government funding. It’s been our privilege to sponsor and name 5 dogs as well as the first female recipient of a dog from the Paws for PatriotsTM program. We’re fortunate enough to call many local volunteer “puppy raisers”, friend, and they often accompany us to our performances. Some of our favorite audiences are local schools, where we’ve had the opportunity to bring both our performance & a guide dog puppy. An educational experience, on several levels, that we hope students & teachers enjoy & remember!
We’ve been cowgirls, showgirls, pirates, peace lovin’ hippies, beauty queens, bunnies, Hawaiian princesses, biker chicks, do wop dandies, broadway babes, zombies, Marilyn Monroe…”whatever your theme, we’ll actualize your dream!”
From costume & script to musical selections & performance time, Katherine, our Program Coordinator, will collaborate with you to make your event’s entertainment the one all your guests will remember! Every show is different, and we always welcome new and return engagements.
